What is a hash?

A digital fingerprint connects data to the mining process.

Every Bitcoin block has a fingerprint. It's called a hash.

Put data in, and out comes a jumble of letters and numbers.

Change one tiny thing, and the whole fingerprint changes.

Miners change a number until that fingerprint fits the network's rule.
